2 Samuel 7:18 (Then King David went in
and sat before the LORD, and he said: "Who am I, O Sovereign LORD, and
what is my family, that you have brought me this far?)
The speaker questions, what she had seen and experienced in
her own life and in her family. About the same, she could not understand the
love and care she had experienced. The opportunities, the opening, the shields,
the chances that seem to just land on her lap. She could wonder what great
thing she had done to deserve this.
2 Samuel 7:19 (And as if this were not
enough in your sight, O Sovereign LORD, you have also spoken about the future
of the house of your servant. Is this your usual way of dealing with man, O
Sovereign LORD?)
It also seems that the Lord has set forward a direction
about the future of her family.
This should be remembered "When you don’t deserve it, you never understand it: the
reason why God loves her so."

Prayer is an essential part of a Christian's life. It helps us to grow in our relationship with God. I think the lyrics of the old favourite hymn "What a friend we have in Jesus" sums up the benefits of prayer. Prayer sustains us; it keeps us going and gives us strength. I encourage you to listen to the words of the hymn and take time to talk to our wonderful Saviour.
